The Cleveland Clinic Akron General Internal Medicine Residency Programs are approved by the Accreditation Quango for Graduate Medical Education and the American Board of Internal Medicine. Twelve (12) Categorical Internal Medicine (iii-yr program) and four (iv) Preliminary (1- year program) positions are available. Residents are Lath-eligible for certification in Internal Medicine upon completion of the Chiselled program.
Educational activity Modalities
Direct patient care, teaching rounds, conferences (board preparatory lecture series, formal lectures, case presentations, and topics in clinical medicine, pathology, radiology, and medical ethics), monthly periodical club, enquiry, as well as weekly board review sessions, simulation labs, signal-of-care ultrasonography, and procedure training. Didactics are a synchronous blend of in-person and virtual educational activity.
Ambulatory patient care is provided at IMCA, the Internal Medicine Eye of Akron, where resident continuity clinics are held. In addition to clinic, residents spend time alongside internists and subspecialists as part of their ambulatory grooming.
All of our teaching faculty are Board-certified in their specialty.
Grooming facilities include the Heart, & Vascular Center, the first accredited Breast Pain Center in Pinnacle County (PCI, Level three certified in diagnostic testing, treatment and research); The McDowell Cancer Center (the largest inpatient unit in the area) providing patients with access to the newest therapies, diagnostics, and surgical techniques to minimize side furnishings and ameliorate outcomes; The Simulation Center providing our residents and students with a state-of- the-art venue for simulation in a broad spectrum of applications. Hands-on simulation helps teams and individuals develop preparedness and insight that is best learned and practiced in realistic atmospheric condition. This translates into improved real-globe communication, collaboration, teamwork, and crisis management. Additional training opportunities include our Hemodialysis Unit, Hyperbaric Oxygen Bedchamber, Wound Centre, Neuroscience Institute, Endoscopy Lab, Pulmonary Function Lab, Respiratory Therapy and Slumber Lab too equally MRI, CT, Pet Scanning and Ultrasonography.
The first Primary Stroke Heart in the area designated by the Articulation Commission with agile reperfusion and stroke team protocols allows Akron General to serve as a regional referral heart for many area hospitals.

A Letter from the Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Plan
Thanks for your involvement in the Internal Medicine Residency Plan at Cleveland Clinic Akron General. We offer 12 Categorical Internal Medicine (3-year program) and four Preliminary Medicine (1-year programme) positions. Upon completion of the Categorical program, residents are Lath eligible for the American Board of Internal Medicine Certifying Examination.
Our Internal Medicine program has a long-standing history of providing an excellent education to our residents. We have a strong and committed faculty who are actively involved in resident education. The atmosphere at Akron General is very friendly and supportive. Akron General has been recognized multiple times in multiple specialties by U.S. News & World Written report. This recognition is a result of our performance in advanced treatment guidelines, the incorporation of testify-based medicine into patient care, technological advancements in information processing and the presence of both basic and clinical research within the institution.

Resident Wellness
At Cleveland Clinic Akron General, nosotros strongly believe that resident wellness is essential for effective learning.
